Beaulieu River Regional Meet 25th (&26th?) June

Depending on numbers and the weather the plan is to meet at Bucklers Hard between 8.30 to 9.00 on Saturday 25th at launch at 9.30 (1 1/2 hrs before low water) and sail or paddle downriver with the ebb, returning with the flood, mid to late afternoon. If it's not too windy we can venture across the Solent to visit Newtown Creek (a nature reserve about 5 miles from the river entrance or possibly Cowes - about 4 miles). Otherwise, options could include exploring the upper and lower reached of the Beaulieu River. This is a a level 2 meet in tidal waters with a likelihood of sailing in the moderately exposed waters of the Solent. The exceptionally attractive Beaulieu River runs through the New Forest with the rare combination of salt marsh bounded by ancient oak woodland.If there is sufficient interest we may also organise a Sunday cruise. Camping is available at Roundhill Campsite, in the New Forest, (10 mins drive from Bucklers Hard). Cost - £17 / night for 2 persons in a tent or camper van. £1 discount for singles.
