At 4.8 m long x 90 cm. wide, this canoe is built from plywood & grp. The canoe has an outrigger, which makes it very stable. It can be paddled, motored or sailed. There is a removeable kick- up rudder with extending tiller handle and steering lines can be run into the boat. The lee board is adjustable fore & aft & pivots down to the required depth, or can be pulled up clear of the water. The outrigger arms are of bamboo, with a solid GRP & celotex outrigger float. The mast forces are transferred through the stub mast & step to the boat hull & outrigger arm. The mast is a carbon fibre windsurfer mast with a pocket sail that is easily rolled around the mast for stowing. The boom was made from a curved chestnut pole. Bulkhead lockers fore & aft.All of the sailing rig & the outrigger can be attached or removed in minutes. With the unstayed mast, the sail can be furled quickly while afloat, or the whole mas and sail taken down and stowed on the out rigger. The canoe is stable enough to be paddled as it is.
This is a very versatile craft & is great fun to sail, motor or just paddle around in. Can take up to 3 adults and is stable and safe. Some tidying up needed, but over-all it is very sound. Also available is a 6 x 4 trailer that can take the canoe, all associated extras and plenty of room for camping/ other gear. A great way to get afloat for the weekend at different spots.
